Top-Rated Cut Resistant Gloves for Children
TruChef Cut Resistant Gloves are the best kids cut resistant gloves.
When your kids are helping cook, fingers should not be part of your meal unless it is finger foods such as vegetables, sandwiches, and cheese & crackers. Using knives is an important part of teaching your kids to cook, and graduating them from plastic and nylon knives to real kitchen knives can create some hesitation for both the parent and the little chef. Cut-resistant gloves are the perfect tool to help keep your child safe while learning how to cut foods; plus, they have many additional uses. I put six of the top kid’s cut-resistant gloves on the market up against each other to determine which one is the best.

TruChef Kids Cut Resistant Gloves Review Summary
I am really impressed with the TruChef Kids Cut Resistant Gloves. I like the fact that they were created specifically for kids. TruChef does not advertise an XS version of an adult glove which several companies do. This was a big selling point for me. The gloves were soft and snug fitting on my kid’s hands. The TruChef gloves are a little more expensive than the other brands that were tested, but they have the quality to show for it.

NoCry Kids Cut Resistant Gloves Review Summary
I was impressed with the NoCry company as a whole. They offer many different safety products for both in and outside the kitchen. These gloves are well made. I could tell by handling the gloves and also when my kid used them. One small issue I had was that they are not made specifically for kids as their kid sizes are on the lower size scale with the XS and XXS. The price however for this product is very competitive.
Note: When testing the NoCry Kids Cut Resistant gloves, we purchased them from Amazon from a listing with this exact title: NoCry Cut Resistant Gloves for Kids, XS (8-12 Years). The product page provided 2 sizes: XS and XXS. That listing has since been removed from Amazon, and those smaller sizes are no longer offered.
(The product linked below is for a size small.)

HereToGear Kids Cut Resistant Gloves Review Summary
When I hold the HereToGear gloves, I can feel the quality of the materials. Although I am a little hesitant with them advertising the smaller sizes as kids gloves, they seem to fit ok. A bonus for these gloves is that you can get two pairs of gloves for the same price as one from other companies.

They recommend that the gloves are not made for large machine operation and that they do not protect against punctures.

UncleHu Kids Cut Resistant Gloves Review Summary
UncleHu Cut Resistant gloves are on the lower end of the pricing scale. The high polyethylene material is a lower quality as compared to the ultra-high polyethylene which leads me away from it. Although stains wash out completely when washed with soap, the fabric holds a little bit of the stain residue after rinsing with water. As of this review, they only offer the XX-Small size on Amazon. For the lower price, you get what you pay for.
WisLife Cut Resistant Gloves
- Material: Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMwPE)
- Gage: n/a
- Made in: China
- Price: $
WisLife cut resistant gloves for kids are made of Dyneema which is an ultra-high polyethylene cut-resistant material. These gloves meet the standard for EN388 which is a level 5 cut resistance standard.
These gloves are washable by hand or machine washable and should be allowed to drip dry. They can also be sanitized in the same way you would a kitchen towel. The manufacture states that you should not iron, bleach, or machine dry.
The material is food grade. The high-performance polyethylene material makes these gloves breathable, lightweight, and comfortable.
I was not able to find any warranty/guarantee information for this product. They do fall under the basic Amazon 30 day warranty.

WisLife Kids Cut Resistant Gloves Review Summary
The main thing that stands out to me with the WisLife gloves is that they specifically name Dyneema as the brand for their fiber material. This allowed me to look up specific information about the material and build confidence in the product instead of being unsure of what is in the materials. These gloves worked very well and passed basic tests. The only negative I could find for these gloves is the medium absorbency and the mention of no warranty. Overall I was really impressed with the WisLife gloves.

Evridwear Kids Cut Resistant Gloves Review Summary
Evridwear cut resistant gloves are geared towards kids who like to help out in the kitchen. They produce a glove that uses high-performance polyethylene which meets cut resistant standards but is slightly lower than the ultra-high polyethylene material which may have contributed to some small fibers showing wear doing my cut tests. These gloves still passed my testing, so I would not necessarily mark these off as an option.
What each review covers
Each comparison within this review cover these key areas for each kid’s cut resistant gloves:
- Overview -The overview covers the general features of the cut resistant gloves and the key selling points.
- Quality – The quality includes what material each glove is made from, how it is made, and how well it holds up with daily use.
- Sizing – The sizing area looks at the sizing that each company provides, the measurements of each glove, and how well it fits on a child’s hand.
- Usability – The usability focuses on the grip, staining, washing, and most importantly does it keep your child’s hand safe from cuts. I put each glove on the hand of a child to see if they can actually use it to cut items in a kitchen.
- Value – The value takes everything into account to see if the price matches the quality and usability of the kids cut resistant gloves. I put this information together with my personal opinion against the price and ask… Are you getting what you pay for?
How We Test
At SteelBlue Kitchen I don’t perform my tests in some fancy kitchen lab because that’s not where you plan to use these cut resistant gloves. I performed these tests in my personal home kitchen with my kids because that’s who is going to use these gloves.
1) Measure Gloves
Before performing any tests, I measured each glove in the following areas:
- Width (palm)
- Length (wrist-middle finger)
- Middle Finger
- Wrist
- Weight
I weighed each dry glove using my Etekcity Digital Food Scale.
2) Water Absorption Test
I took a dry weight of each glove and then submerged each glove in water for 15 seconds. After soaking it, I pulled it out and let all of the water run out of it until there were no more drips. Each wet glove was then weighed to determine how much water weight each glove added.
3) Cut Test
I first sharpened the Opinel le petit chef knife (one of my favorite kid’s chef knives) to give it a sharp edge.
With a sharp knife in hand, I placed a potato in each glove and performed a single stroke across the glove and then 10 consecutive strokes across the glove.
Glove Gauge
The gauge of a glove indicates the number of knitting needles or stitches per square inch. For example, a 13-gauge glove has thirteen stitches knitted per inch of the glove. The higher the number — 11-gauge, 13-gauge, or 15-gauge — the more stitches knitted per inch. The glove’s gauge will increase as the number of stitches increase. With this in mind, as the volume of yarn increases, the thickness of yarn will decrease. For example, a 15-gauge glove will be thinner and fit more to the shape of the hand than a 5-gauge glove.
